The magnificence of Haute Couture
Haute Couture is the original French technique of pattern making and sewing construction for high quality fashionable gowns.
Each element of the gown is hand crafted and manipulated to fit each individual silhouette. Specific measurements are taken from the customer's body; these measurements are then used to create a unique "block". A pattern is then created especially for the customer. This ensures the highest accuracy in fit and shaping to the body.
A series of toile fittings is than followed. This is a trial process of fitting calico to the body to further the design. Alterations can be made during this step before the actual construction process can begin, ensuring all fit alterations are final and corrected.
Spiral boning is essential in a Haute Couture, as opposed to “Rigelene” which is a plastic bone.
Boning is used to create the ideal female silhouette. Each Spiral bone is cut and capped at each end, it is than threaded through a cotton tunnel tape in the corset of the dress. Spiral boning ensures complete comfort and allows the wearer to roll up a corset and roll back down without damaging the gown.
The finest and most delicate fabrics are sourced to create Haute Couture gowns.
Communicating and working with overseas countries (France, Italy, Spain, UAE etc) allows access to a variety of exclusive and intricate fabrics. From laces to trims, time and effort is spent locating the right elements to create a masterpiece.
